CSV compare & merge

Update supplier prices without changing your stock

Compare your current product list with a supplier’s new prices. Choose the changes you want and check the file before adding it to your shop.

Before you start

Save a backup of your current product list. You will need that file and your supplier’s update. To practise first, use the weekly price-update example on the Samples page.

1. Add the current catalog first

Open CSV compare & merge and choose Compare an update. The first file is your starting catalog, also called the baseline. Add the supplier update after it.

2. Check the preview

Check that names, product codes (SKUs) and prices appear in separate columns. For an Excel file, choose the sheet that contains your products. If a CSV row appears in one column, check the delimiter—the comma, semicolon or other mark between values. If letters look wrong, check Text encoding.

3. Match the same products

Choose SKU if each product has its own code. If small and large versions share a code, choose SKU and Size together. When the supplier uses a different heading, give that column the same name as yours in Map & match. For example, Item code can map to SKU.

4. Allow price changes

Choose Price only, then check that your price column is set to Overwrite and your stock column to Preserve. Choose Partial update if the supplier file lists only some products. Products missing from the update will stay in your current list.

5. Review the old and new values

Calculate the review. In the weekly sample, product 0001 changes from 12.00 to 13.20 and keeps stock 15. Check any warnings and approve only the changes you want. A new product also needs approval.

6. Download, then try a small import

Choose the format your shop expects and download the prepared file and report. Review any excluded records. Back up your store and test a few products before applying the whole file.

Your next step

Check the downloaded prices and confirm that existing stock quantities stayed unchanged. Back up your shop and try a small import before applying the full update.
